Kumuda Umashankara Teachers Training Institute Kokkarne, Udupi District was established in 1970 by Anitha Education Society (R) Kokkarne. It was the brain Child of late B. Kushala Shetty, the then founder Secretary of Anitha Education Society. The Said Institution is affiliated to Directorate of State Education Research and Training (DSERT) Bangalore and got Permanent Recognition in 1972 as per order No TE6 Rgn 34/76-77 Dtd. 28.03.1977. It is a Govt. Aided Institution and getting Govt. Grant from 1972.

Kumuda Umashankara Teachers Training Institute is the only aided Teachers Training Institute which is conducting 2 years D.Ed course in Udupi District imparting Co- education. It has 60 intakes every year for 1 year D.Ed course. It is one of the oldest reputed Teachers Training Institutions with Qualified Staff, excellent infrastructure facilities with a track of good results providing quality education in the rural area.

Vision Statement: The institution is located in a rural area and it has a broad vision of providing basic education to the rural public, and also to educate the poor inhabitants of the villages where there is no provision of education and basic health. The institution will build warm environment of hope to the lower stata of the society, so that to update them to the modern world.
